LOCAL TRANSPORT

The buses in Barbados are regular and inexpensive. The bus  for north or south of the island stops at the bottom of the road, outside The Royal Westmoreland Spa complex on the seafront.

Taxis run 24 hours a day. They are not metered, but their fares are regulated by law. Fares tend to go up late at night. Remember to agree your fare before you start out on your journey.

There are no longer any trains on the island.

Boat travel is popular with many different forms from which to choose. Glass Bottom Boats, Catamaran Tours, Galleons and the Harbour Master River Boat to name a few. You can even dive in a submarine!

Helicopter trips can be booked in Bridgetown Heliport.

You can also Island Hop by light aircraft to all the neighbouring islands from Barbados Grantley Adams International Airport.

Self Drive Hire Cars - We recommend Chelsea Motors, a small firm who are very competitive and helpful. Their direct email address is chelseamotors@caribsurf.com and mention that you have booked with a recommendation from Palm Tree Villa, Mullins and they should give you a discount. Ask for Janet or Lorraine. They will deliver the car to the airport or to the villa free on request and you can even leave it at the airport when you go home. We suggest you book well in advance, especially in high season.
